We are not only an automotive parts manufacturer but also a CNC machining company that provides precision machined parts and CNC prototyping for a variety of products. Today I would like to share with you: Several methods of hardening metal surfaces.

Several methods for surface hardening of precision metal parts include quenching, carburizing, nitriding, boronizing, cold working, alloying, QPQ process, carburizing, and nitriding.
Quenching: Heating the metal to a certain temperature and then cooling it quickly to improve the metal structure and hardness. (Commonly used in metal auto parts, automation equipment parts, injection molds and some parts in the mold, etc.)
Carburizing: In a carburizing furnace, the carbon content on the surface of low carbon steel is increased to a specified range, and then quenched to make the surface hardness reach a specific level.
Nitriding: It is carried out in a nitriding furnace to form a layer of nitride with high hardness and high wear resistance on the surface of the steel.
Boronizing: Improves surface hardness by changing the chemical composition and microstructure of the steel surface.
Cold working: Through cold rolling, cold forging and other methods, the steel produces lattice distortion energy during the plastic deformation process, thereby increasing its hardness.

Alloying: Adding a certain proportion of alloying elements, such as manganese, chromium, vanadium, etc., to steel to improve the hardness and strength of the steel. (Commonly used in the medical industry, medical equipment parts, aerospace parts, etc.)
QPQ process treatment: an advanced surface treatment process with good wear resistance, corrosion resistance, fatigue resistance, minimal deformation and low carbon and environmental protection.

Nitriding treatment: It is carried out in a nitriding furnace to form a layer of nitride with high hardness and high wear resistance on the surface of the steel, thereby improving its hardness.
These methods can be used individually or combined to achieve better results.
