Today we introduce the injection moulding process step by step
Injection molding, also known as injection molding, is a molding method that combines injection and molding. At a certain temperature, the completely molten plastic material is stirred by a screw, injected into the mold cavity with high pressure, and then cooled and solidified to obtain a molded product. This method is suitable for mass production of parts with complex shapes and is the main method for production and processing of precision products. Therefore, the mold is also called the "mother of industry"
The advantages of the injection molding method are: fast production speed, high efficiency, automated operation, a wide variety of colors, shapes from simple to complex, sizes from large to small, and precise product size. The product is easy to update and can be made into complex-shaped parts. Injection molding is suitable for mass production and molding and processing fields such as complex-shaped products.
Let's briefly talk about the injection molding process steps
1: The plastic moulding factory first evaluates the parts that need to be molded,
For example: Does the product/part have an undercut (cannot be demolded) design;
Does the product/part have a local material that is too thin, generally less than 0.3mm is not suitable for material entry;
Does the product/part have a local material that is too thick, which will cause "shrinkage" on the product surface (a small pit will be concave on the surface);
It is necessary to determine how large the mold needs to be manufactured and how many products (Cavity) should be placed in each mold based on the size and complexity of the product/part;
The texture of the product/part surface (usually with a texture number), evaluate whether "gas marks" will be generated or whether the product surface will be sprayed or other surface treatments can cover the "gas marks"
The characteristics of the materials used for the product/part (common materials are PA, PC, ABS, ABS+PC, PE, POM, PMMA, etc., if it is a die-casting mold, alloy materials are used)
2:Engineers of plastic moulding factory need to evaluate the injection moulds to be manufactured. For example: how many products/parts are placed in each set of injection moulds (Cavity); what type of pinpoint gate is used, and the location of the pinpoint gate; how to design the land area between the front mould and the rear mould, and where the parting line will be; use software to do mould flowanalysis to evaluate possible problems in the injection moulding process; draft angle analysis; movement and demoulding analysis of the lifter (Lifter) and the slider (Slide); analysis of the ejector (Eject) system; etc. Below is a picture of the mould flow analysis: 3: The following is the most important step in the injection molding process steps: using software to design the injection mold. Below is a picture of the injection mold being designed:
4: Processing of injection molding mold parts
Including: wire cutting, EDM, grinder, CNC Machining, and other processes. These equipment and machines are available in the plastic molding factory.
The picture below shows that the CNC milling machine is processing the "copper male" of the injection mold. The "copper male" is used to perform EDM on some precision parts in the mold. 5: Dimensional inspection of injection molds and injection molding mold parts
6: Injection molding assembly and mold fitting
Below is a video of mold assembly and mold fitting to help you understand the injection molding process steps
7: Install the mold on the injection molding machine: mold trial (first shot)
8: Repair and adjust the mold according to the test mold of the injection mold, and then produce samples
In the next article, we will share with you the composition/structure of the injection mold

In the process of mechanical design and plastic injection mold design, it is crucial to identify whether the drawing adopts first-angle projection or third-angle projection. Especially in workflows such as injection molding process step by step or rapid injection molding, the accuracy in interpreting the drawing directly determines the quality and efficiency of mold manufacturing.
n the mold manufacturing industry, mold electroplating surface treatment technology is like a "golden key" that unlocks the door to enhancing mold performance and quality. Especially for automotive component manufacturers and medical injection molding companies, this technology is indispensable as it can effectively meet the strict requirements of these two industries for high precision, long service life, and high safety of molds.
In the field of plastic molding, the design and manufacturing of injection molds are of great significance. The slide, as a crucial structure in injection molds, plays an indispensable role for automotive component manufacturers in producing complex automotive parts, medical injection molding in manufacturing precision medical device components, and injection mold inc and other mold enterprises in product research and development. A deep understanding of the slide helps improve the quality and efficiency of high precision plastic injection molding. Here is a detailed introduction.
This article comprehensively introduces plastic injection molds. It covers their definition, historical evolution, and key design aspects like product analysis and gating system design. Plastic injection molds factories play a crucial role in production, using advanced equipment. Molds are classified by material and structure, with special types like hot runner molds. Their structure includes molding and gating components. High precision plastic injection molding is essential in fields like medical molding, while automotive component manufacturers also rely on these molds for various parts.
